PicoSure Q & A

What is PicoSure?

PicoSure is a treatment that uses laser technology to remove pigment and reduce lines and wrinkles from your skin. The device emits quick pulses of light that target the natural blemishes or tattoo ink that you specify. It breaks the pigment apart into tiny particles.

The pulses of light prompt your body to naturally flush the pigment away from your skin and out of your system. Soon, you can enjoy clear, even-toned skin with fewer blemishes and body art.

What does PicoSure do?

PicoSure is best known for its ability to help your body erase unwanted tattoos, but the device has many other abilities, too. With PicoSure, you can target and discernibly reduce:

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Sunspots
  • Freckles
  • Redness
  • Hyperpigmentation

The laser can be set to target any color on the spectrum, from cool tones like black and blue to warm hues like red and yellow.

What do treatments with PicoSure feel like?

If you’re using PicoSure for skin revitalization, you’ll experience minimal discomfort with a sensation that feels similar to a rubber band snapping against your skin.

Removing tattoos with PicoSure may feel slightly more intense. Tattoo removal treatments have a reputation for being nearly intolerable, but unlike traditional methods, the PicoSure laser isn’t unbearably painful. Your provider at Contours LaserSpa may offer you a topical numbing cream if you’re removing a tattoo to keep you at ease during your treatment.

How many sessions will I need to remove my tattoo or discoloration with PicoSure?

Everyone’s skin is different, so there’s no way to predict the exact amount of sessions your treatment will take. Your provider examines the condition of your skin or your tattoo before creating your treatment plan. In general, tattoos take an average of four to 10 treatments to remove depending on the density of the ink and the size of the piece.

If you simply want better-looking skin, your treatment plan won’t take as long. Patients usually see the improvement they want in just two to five treatments. Each session is spaced six to eight weeks apart to allow time for your skin to recover.

Whether you have uncontrollable redness, age spots, or a regrettable tattoo, call Contours LaserSpa or book your consultation online to find out if you’re a candidate for PicoSure laser treatments today.
